Cultivate’s AI forecaster should have a seat, not the final word

The platform is most interesting when a team can disagree in a structured way.

Cultivate Forecasts describes team forecasting, calibration tracking and an AI Forecaster alongside human participation. Our view is that the AI component should be evaluated as one contributor to a decision process. A team workspace should help participants examine differences in evidence and assumptions; an automated estimate should not end that conversation merely because it is always available.

We would consider Cultivate for an organization that can identify a real decision, a responsible owner and a forecastable question that informs it. The tradeoff is a structured shared process versus the temptation to collect probabilities without connecting them to decisions. We would also want human estimates distinguishable from AI output so that later review can examine their different reasoning and limitations.

For a pilot, choose one decision with a known review date and ask participants to record estimates before seeing the AI contribution where the workflow permits. Discuss the largest disagreements and record what evidence would resolve them. Later assess whether the forecast changed a decision or revealed a missing assumption. We have not evaluated the AI model or organizational outcomes. Our acceptance criterion is a better documented decision conversation, with model output remaining open to challenge.
