OUR TAKE / EDITORIAL OPINION

Polywhaler’s paper replay should challenge the whale story

The useful experiment asks what a follower would have known at the time.

Polywhaler documents whale-trade research, an Agent chat and paper portfolios that can replay selected wallets’ historical trades. Our preference would be to start with the paper workflow and a skeptical question. A wallet’s appealing history is a reason to investigate the sequence of decisions, not a reason to assume that repeating its visible actions would produce the same experience.

We would consider Polywhaler for a researcher examining trader behavior and willing to separate observation from interpretation. The tradeoff is an accessible narrative about a large participant versus uncertainty about the participant’s wider context. Vendor whale or insider scores are estimates, not proof of informed activity. The Agent chat is also an advertised research interface whose answer quality we have not assessed.

An evaluation should specify the exact moment information would have become available to the observer, then inspect how a paper replay treats that timing and its assumptions. Include a period that does not flatter the chosen wallet. Ask the chat to identify evidence gaps and compare its answer with the underlying records. Account access is required for paper trading in the reviewed material. We would favor a workflow that makes the limitations of imitation obvious rather than one that merely makes imitation easy.

What is documented about AI?

Official docs describe an Agent chat for researching whales, trades and markets, with usage limits by plan. Model quality and vendor smart-money/insider scores were not independently tested; scores are not proof of insider trading or future returns.

“No AI documented” means the checked sources do not establish an AI feature. It does not prove that the product uses no AI.
